Save Space and Minimize Tabs In Firefox
- Posted by glen on November 14th, 2006
There’s a new extension in town for Firefox: FaviconizeTab. This handy little extension will let you shrink a tab that you’ve got open to just the size of a tiny favicon. This is ideal for those tabs you’ve got runnin’ all day long, like Gmail or 30 Boxes. Download Squad has a little more on the functionality:
In its Options you can choose to activate it with a double-click, Ctrl-click, Alt-click, or Shift-click, or just use the context menu, and if you have Firefox set up to restore your previous session’s tabs on start-up, FaviconizeTab will remember which tabs should be Faviconized.
So it even remembers which tabs to faviconize from the last session. Verrrry cool.

[...] If you constantly have a bunch o’ tabs open constantly in Firefox, try out a cocktail of the PermaTab and the FaviconizeTab extension. (I’ve covered the FaviconizeTab extension before.) PermaTab will save tabs as permanent, so they’ll never be shut down. Example uses: Meebo, Gmail, etc. Then, once you’ve got them set, use Faviconize to shrink the browser tab real estate to a fraction of what it was. Pretty nifty, and quite handy for the uber geek.
