Helping Creative People Create

Taking Back Your Attention

comments

Like it Matters has an intriguing post about trimming your attention sails.  In short: how to cut waaaaaaay back on your digital inputs. The author Brian was recently motivated to storm the beaches of his attention span and take back what was rightfully his. The post has an incredible list of very helpful things he implemented to help keep the clutter out of your mind, but the most important sentence I read in the entire article was the first one:

You are what you pay attention to.

Makes sense.  Sometimes it takes a little more than changing how you check your email, or read your feeds.  When you can shift your mindset, that’s when the results happen.

Excellent idea. I checked the link to Brian’s blog and the concept is fantastic. Having information is good but there is something such as having too much information.

Tim Ferriss is having his book out by the way. It’s at http://www.fourhourworkweek.com. I hope you find many of his ideas interesting. David Seah was able to get an advanced copy so you might want to check his detailed review at http://www.davidseah.com.
