Information Overload Is GOOD For You?!
- Posted by glen on March 8th, 2007
Apparently some studies have shown that information overload… yes overload… can actually be good for you.
“Studies have been done showing that people can actually enhance their cognitive abilities, which helps them to process more information at the same time. And their performance even transfers to other tasks.”
Hrm. I’m no expert, but that seems to me like saying that running for 20 hours a day will make you a better runner. Sure, you’ll be in a lot better shape, but that’s until your body gives out on you.
Granted, I do see the benefits of taking in larger amounts of information. Your mind can and will adapt to the information that’s being pushed on it. But it doesn’t have to like it.
I think there’s a fine line between taking in a lot of information and information overload.
Thoughts?
